Hi mentees, I am a history teacher at an international secondary school in Hong Kong, and moved from Canada (Toronto) a few years ago. Being a history teacher has not always been easy; making sure the whole class runs at the same pace without leaving anyone behind, keeping the attention of many students with a topic they may not find interesting at all, helping students who are failing the class. Those were skills I developed over time, and that could be useful to share with anyone starting in the field, or any activity that required extended interactions with children or teenagers.
I am also a mother of two, trying to include curiosity and the taste of learning. I am also working in a community association that helps bringing access to cultural sites and books to low-income families.
Looking forward to talking to you!
I can provide feedback as a teacher, if you are a parent trying to bring more cultural activities to your family life, or if you are starting out as a teacher or educator or coach. Happy to also talk about how to bring access to books to low-income families and share my experience working as a teacher in Hong Kong.
