MayMartin Children's books author and illustrator, let's make a colourful world for our children
Hello!
Illustrating children’s books has always been a dream of mine since I was a child. As an adult, it is a privilege to be able to unleash the imagination and creativity of so many young children by putting an image or picture on a story. I mostly use pastels and watercolour painting – it is a personal choice as one of the most vivid memories I had from my kindergarten years was this book my grandma gave me: it was the story of the Little Match Girl illustrated with some amazing watercolour paintings.
I see drawing as a way to add emotions to words. As a mother of two young children, I found that adding illustrations was a way to make them learn things faster, read more and be more curious.
